Idaho CASA Staff & Volunteers
Brandi Schmidt – Executive Director
Brandi Schmidt joined Idaho CASA as the Executive Director in October of 2018. Brandi also serves as the Director of Finance for LINC, a Center for Independent Living. Prior to coming to Idaho CASA, Brandi gained exceptional knowledge in nonprofit best practices while working at the Idaho Nonprofit Center. She was instrumental in activating the statewide day of fundraising, Idaho Gives.
She came to the CASA network through her service as a foster parent and a board member of a local CASA program. Brandi has been able to pursue her passion and believes that all people should have equal opportunity to fulfill their desired personal potential through her work and volunteer activities.
Brandi is 5th generation Idahoan and holds a B.B.A. in Accountancy from Boise State University. She studied at Notre Dame and Saint Mary’s University of Winona. Brandi has earned her Senior Certified Professional certification through the Society of Human Resource Management. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their six children and volunteering in their community.
Alyxandrea Benson – Foster Youth Advocate
Alyxandrea (Aly) volunteers her time for Idaho CASA. Aly successfully advocated for Guardianship as her permanency plan while in foster care. She experienced multiple placements, a shortage of CASA’s, poorly trained CASA’s, and ultimately advocated for her own best interest. Aly will be working on an exciting pilot project and is committed to focusing on issues that impact children in the foster care system, transitioning from foster care, and those that have aged-out of the system. Aly maintains a 3.7 gpa, attends a local private high school, and is active in the schools athletic programs.
